The metabolism of news has been increasing rapidly for some time. Now news is news for only a few seconds: everything after is just retweets and trackbacks.

No one in the theatre world understands this better than BroadwayWorld’s founder and editor-in-chief, Robert Diamond. This thriving internet hub of theatre news covers 100 US cities, 30 countries, and draws in over 3 million monthly visitors.

Their pace is amazing – sometimes it seems they’ve tweeted your press release before you’ve finished writing it. And now TCG is partnering with BroadwayWorld to bring that reach and pace to our Member Theatres.

As our Executive Director Teresa Eyring wrote in her weekly briefing, “While ‘Broadway’ is in the title of the website, it has become a valuable news service for theatres nationally and internationally.” Says Diamond, “We’re very excited about our new partnership with TCG because it’s our goal to help spread the world about all things theatrical and we’re thrilled to expand on our coverage of Member Theatres.”

Drawing from Theatre Profiles, our comprehensive online database of Member Theatre productions, BroadwayWorld will compile monthly regional snapshots of the exciting work on our Member’s stages.

Will our next partnership be with those plucky singing and dancing newsboys of Newsies? Only time, and maybe a tweet from @broadwayworld, will tell!

-Gus

By day, Gus is the mild-mannered Circulation and Customer Service Manager at TCG. By night, he transforms into August Schulenburg: playwright, actor, director, and Artistic Director of Flux Theatre Ensemble. His produced plays include Riding the Bull, Carrin Beginning, Other Bodies, Rue, The Lesser Seductions of History, and Jacob’s House.

There needs to be a direct link to the broadway.com website somewhere in the article. [yes, there's the regional listing, but that's for Milwaukee]. Also, the twitter handle should be a direct hyper-link to their twitter page.

Thanks for the feedback, DA! Let's see if we can make that happen…

Dear DA — Ask and you shall receive (btw — I am assuming you meant we should have a link to BroadwayWorld.com). We hope this helps alleviate any typing stress and/or carpal tunnel syndrome we may have caused you. :) All in good fun, DA!
