On Monday, April 23, TCG celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a Gala Evening at Espace in New York City. Emceed by Sally Struthers and Jennifer Cody, the event honored luminaries from the field and featured some of the newest shows from across the country. The evening marked a half century of TCG’s mission to strengthen, nurture and promote the national not-for-profit theatre community.

The audience was filled with theatre leaders, enthusiasts and celebrities who enjoyed cocktails and seated dinner while paying tribute to a group of people who have all made a notable impact in the world of theatre. The evening’s honorees, Kenny Leon, Judy Rubin, and The Shubert Foundation, have shared their passion, dedication, and support with not only TCG and its members but with the national theatre community.

Additionally, the audience had the special opportunity to see performances from current and upcoming TCG Member Theatre productions. Featured were “He Wanted a Girl” from Dallas Theater Center, The Public Theater and Signature Theatre’s Production of Giant, “Burn that Bridge” from La Jolla Playhouse’s Hands on a Hardbody, and a special sneak peak of “Pusherman” from the new Bill T. Jones musical Super Fly which will be coming to a TCG Member Theatre later this year.

TCG Member Theatres were well represented with attendees from across the country, including: The Alley Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre, The Old Globe, Contemporary American Theatre Festival, Seattle Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, Children’s Theatre Company of Minneapolis, American Repertory Theatre, The Public Theater, Long Wharf Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, and California Shakespeare Theater, to name a few.

TCG would like to extend a special thank you to event co-chairs Ralph Bryan and Heather Randall and to all who attended for an extraordinary evening that celebrated the last five decades of American theater while heralding in the next 50 years.
