La MaMa Umbria International is a not-for-profit cultural center and artists’ residence founded by Ellen Stewart in 1990 that is located in the countryside surrounding the town of Spoleto in central Italy. Dedicated to the creation of activities which foster cultural exchange and international understanding, the center provides the opportunity for culturally diverse artists to live together while working on productions or participating in workshops and to develop their artistic skills immersed in a creative, natural environment. Ping Chong, Tina Landau, André de Shields, Erik Ehn, Ruth Maleczech, Dijana Milosevic, Luca Ronconi, Hjalmar-Jorge Joffre-Eichorn, JoAnne Akalaitis, Dorcy Rugamba, Marco Martinelli, Ermanna Montanari and others will offer experiential workshops for professional directors, playwrights and actors during 3 Programs this summer.
